My name is Susan Masiyiwa Christiansen. I was born in Zimbabwe but I have lived in different countries around the world for a little more than half of my life, including more than 18 years in Mozambique. I am married to a friend and husband, Per Christiansen.
I have worked and lived in Uganda, Ghana, Liberia, Zambia, Malawi, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. I also studied and lived in Odessa, Ukraine and Rostov on Don, Southern Russia. Of all these countries I consider Mozambique my home. We first came to Mozambique in 1995 after the first peace accord. Now I am coming back to Gorongosa after the August 2019 Peace Agreement. Following the peace.
Somehow I feel there is always a connection to Mozambique and its people that will always be in my heart. I feel privileged to serve Gorongosa National Park. I remember in 2016, my husband and I were among first guests to visit the park after the withdrawal of the convoy.
I never imagined living in the Park but I am loving it, the tranquility and the sounds of nature all around!
My challenge to get as many girls as possible to reach their dreams. I am positive my being here will change a few girls’ lives.
I would like to welcome the world to the peace park - Gorongosa National Park
