Patrica Guerra

Director Gorongosa Business Club

I was born in the beautiful costal city of Beira, in Sofala, center province of Mozambique.  As a consequence of the circumstances at the time, my family was forced to flee its motherland.  Despite growing up away from the warmth and wilderness of my homeland, I carried it in my heart without even knowing it, my passion for wildlife and animals in general has been with me for as long as I can remember and somehow I always saw myself involved in all sorts of animal rescues.

In the spirit to pursue my dream and get involved with conservation, I returned to Mozambique just in time to witness the first elections, but the country was still under “supervised” tension and venturing away from the capital city was a risky affair, so twenty year old me settled in Maputo and decided to pursue hospitality sales and marketing, a background that allowed me, not only, to build and grow a career in the most significant tourism developments in Mozambique, but also and to my outmost satisfaction,  connected me with the conservation and sustainability programs embraced by the developers, in the various regions of the country, up until their withdrawal from hospitality sector in Mozambique in 2014.

Gorongosa National Park was a reference throughout my years in the hotel & tourism industry and when I first visited Park back in 2007, I immediately connected and surrendered to the magic of the beautiful and legendary Gorongosa. As if by magic in 2015 I was invited to join the Team and trusted the task of connecting Mozambique’s business community to the Park’s projects and the remarkable story that is Gorongosa, it’s importance and splendor.

I am as honored with the opportunity that I have been given, as I am, inspired with this magnificent restoration project.  It’s an absolute privilege to work along side the brilliant minds and most exceptional people that compose the Park’s Team.

Through Gorongosa Business Club we strive on promoting and growing understanding of philanthropic philosophies and practices within and throughout the business community in Mozambique.

Our ability to make a difference is directly linked to the high level of support we receive from our loyal members.
