Marcos Bera Chova
My name is Marcos Bera Chova, I was born in 1986 in Maringué District, Sofala Province, the son of a peasant. A year after I was born my parents took refuge in Malawi because of the war. In 1995 my parents returned to Mozambique, and live in the Caia district currently. I'm 29 years old, married and the father of two children, a girl called Margaret and a boy called Amade. I trained in forestry at the Agricultural Institute of Chimoio. In 2011 I studied Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing as applied to environmental management at the Catholic University of Mozambique - Beira. Right now I am working on my degree in Environmental Management at the Catholic University of Mozambique - Chimoio.
I first worked in reforestation at TCT-Dalman in Catapu, Cheringoma district in 2009, a year after I started working in LevasFlor company Cheringoma as Forestry Manager, where I worked in a variety of jobs in the forest concession LevasFlor. In 2012 I started working in Gorongosa National Park in the reforestation program of Mount Gorongosa. It’s an honour for me to be a part of this great team at Gorongosa, as I had heard about Gorongosa from books, and from stories my father told me. Today I am a hard working member of the team restoring this great library of biodiversity that our country has.
