One of our local guides will take you on a brief (2km) walk from camp down a forest trail to the Pungue River. You will pass workers from Vinho going the other way, going to work in the Park. You should feel good about the fact that your visit here ensures they will have employment. (Thank you!) A boatman will take you across the placid Pungue River where you will be welcomed to the village of Vinho. Here you will visit the local school and hospital, built with tourism revenue, and see the light of hope in the eyes of Vinho’s children. You will meet some of the local women and hear their stories and songs. Or you can wander around photographing village scenes and smiling faces of people in the community. In just 2-3 hours, you will get a taste of life in an African village, a village with a great future thanks to you.
