Director of Communications
I was born in Lisbon, Portugal, and I lived in Italy and Spain for several years before moving to Mozambique in 2005. I went to school for social sciences, computers, database management, statistics, and marketing. I’m married and I have two sons, two daughters and one granddaughter.
I always dreamed of coming to Africa to work with local communities to create a better future for African children. In March 2005, I came to Mozambique as a volunteer to teach. I visited Gorongosa National Park in July 2005 and three months later I met Greg Carr in Maputo. When he told me his plan to conserve the Park I couldn’t help but to say “please count on me”.
My academic background and previous managerial experiences in different countries help me to achieve the two main goals of the Gorongosa National Communications Department--create local and international awareness for the Park and transform Park visitors into Gorongosa advocates.
Gorongosa National Park is helping Mozambique to become a top tourism destination -- back in 2005 that seemed nearly impossible. I also have to admit that it is a privilege to work in such a beautiful place, surrounded by some of the nicest and happiest people in the world.
