Thanks to the recovery effort already underway, Gorongosa has about 70 beautiful, strong lions. And with further restoration of species such as zebra and buffalo we expect the Park will with time support many more. Our dedicated lion researcher, Paola Bouley, and her team are working to figure out how best to boost our lion numbers. The team also works with children in local communities to teach them about lion conservation so that they will grow up to be Gorongosa’s next lion stewards. All this is critical work for Gorongosa but also for Africa. Lions urgently need protection and they need safe places like Gorongosa where they can survive and thrive for generations to come.
Your donation of $50 will send local children to camp to learn about our lion conservation program. $250 will purchase a remote camera used to find and identify lions. $1,400 will purchase a radio collar used to track lion movements and understand their ecology. 100% of your donation will go directly to these programs or materials. All donations are tax deductible.
