Second Stop: Pushing on through Tanzania

April 5, 2013

Camp 2 – I spent last night on Mount Meru, Tanzania where the mountains framed an amazing night sky. I woke up to the sound of Colobus monkeys all around and saw a big herd of Cape Buffalo not far from camp.

I made it to the Tanga Junction by 6:00pm and decided to push on another 270 km's to Dar es Salaam in the dark (a “no no”, but the thought of dealing with the insane traffic approaching Dar in the heat of day was unbearable). The traffic was still bad even at 11:00 at night!

Photo: Leaving Dar es Salaam this morning headed south along the coast towards Mozambique.
