The BioEducation Program in Gorongosa National Park is offering a workshop focused on mammal conservation, ecology and taxonomy for students who want to gain field experience in mammology. The workshop will train participants in survey methods, taxonomy, and ecology of various mammals.

The Bio Education Program will offer full scholarships to selected students.

Workshop Details

Dates: 21-30 June 2021
Location: Gorongosa National Park
Professor: Dr. Ara Monadjem, University of Eswatini
Participants: Undergraduate students in course in the areas of Biological Sciences.
Language: Fluent English

 

Goals:
1. Study the evolution and physiology of African mammals.
2. Study the ecology of mammals.
3. Learn about the conservation of mammals.
4. Learn to conduct mammalian biodiversity surveys in the field.

Introduction to the identification of mammals in the field
Rodentia and Soricomorpha (theoretical and practical classes)
Chiroptera (theoretical and practical classes)
Introduction to other important groups of small mammals
Practical mammal identification classes
